Idea behind it is that an intruder's plan backfires on himself. It took me a couple of weeks in my spare time from start to finish and I'm happy with how its turned out and think that it will compliment my showreel quite well. Some of the animation at parts could have been better but the overall animation is an improvement

New Animation
Ok so its been a while since my last post and the plan was to go off and do some more animating. So that's what I did! My latest one is uploading to vimeo now so there will be a link shortly and work has started on another piece of work. I think two or three more pieces and a brand new showreel will be ready

Eurogamer
Went to eurogamer last friday and saturday to try out some up and coming games. Also mainly to see if I could have someone look at my showreel for advice. I got it! spoke to a couple of lead artists from the creative assembly and they gave me some very valuable advice about my showreel. I need to re-edit it, as I've got some weak animation and bits that shouldnt be in there cancelling out the good stuff I have. Work needs to be done on it and more animating over the next few weeks with ideas already underway...

room so far

So this is how the room is looking at this moment in time. I wanted to go for a mid-afternoon lighting and still need to add some interior lighting. The sofa is from turbo-squid and the room is borrowed from my degree film Whack'd which Ive re-textured and shuffled some bits around. I wanted to add some geeky bits like sci-fi posters and a computer but not so sure it is needed. I'm about to start animating now so ill come back to the lighting in a bit

New Project
Last week I met up with Tom (a good friend of mine from college and uni) and weve decided to work on a small lip sync together. The concept is of a geek/nerd kid freaking out over a game of Call of Duty. Weve drawn up a storyboard and got the dialogue sorted into which character says what.
A week later and we're ready to start animating. Ive just finished my character's room and had a little mental ray rendering problem with the nerd character's hair, nose and glasses dissappearing but thats finally sorted now after looking it up on the internet. Actually the 11 second club forum. So its monday now, well it was, its now 12.02am Tuesday. So by the end of this week I plan to have my lip sync completed or nearly completed or maybe even starting the movement animations. We shall see. Progress of the room will be uploaded tomorrow

Finished Charlie Short
So it's finally rendered and finished, by far from what I intended it to be but im happy with what I've done on the whole. The minor things I would change from the finished video is the arm movement at the end. It looks odd in the way it comes down as he says "find out". Also it's a little too dark but that is the kind of mood that I wanted to create. I felt that I had spent long enough on the short so I decided to settle with what I've done, learn from experience and move on to something new.
